The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement released the latest revenue figures on Monday, 19 June 2023, showing growth of 18.7% compared to the same month in 2022.
The second-highest record follows a slightly slower April but a record-setting March where online casinos in the state breached the $160 million mark by generating $165.7 million in revenue – setting its highest record.
Experts predicted a lucrative month, but few considered the possibility of a near-record month. Casinos collected $161.4 million in March – reaching over the $160 million mark for the second time – just $4.3 million shy of the current record.
Based on year-on-year growth, online casinos in the state show an increase of nearly 15%, generating 781.5 million within the first five months.
Online Casino Revenue in 2023 Compared to 2022
In 2022, online casinos in the state managed to set various records, reaching over $140 million in March 2022 for the first time and over $150 million in December.
Month | 2022 | 2023 |
---|---|---|
May | $136,016,462 | $161,411,924 |
April | $136,883,398 | $158,936,991 |
March | $140,655,053 | $165,711,825 |
February | $129,976,091 | $142,592,966 |
January | $137,849,716 | $152,866,817 |
As the table above indicates, only February 2023 generated less than $150 million, collecting $142 million.
If last year is any indication of what to expect for the rest of 2023, online casinos in the state would likely generate close to $200 million per month in the first quarter of 2024.
