World Series of Poker (WSOP) Review
WSOP stands for the World Series of Poker. It’s one of the most recognizable brands in the poker world. Any player who wants to play online poker in New Jersey has likely considered registering an account with the WSOP Casino.
Since it opened in the dying months of 2013, WSOP has retained a solid amount of traffic, thus guaranteeing regular games for its players.
WSOP Casino Bonus Offers
Despite WSOP Casino not being a conventional casino, you can still claim a range of bonuses and promotions when you play with them. With so many other casinos now unveiling dedicated poker rooms, WSOP has had to offer bonuses in order to retain its market share.
No Deposit Bonus
WSOP offers a no deposit bonus of $10. You just need to enter the promo code 10FREE to gain access to it when you create a new account.
For many players, they won’t be impressed by this relatively small bonus. However, many casinos don’t allow no deposit bonuses to be applied to online poker at all.
Matching Deposit Bonus
On the other hand, WSOP Casino in New Jersey offers a tremendous first deposit bonus. They’ll match your deposit at 100% up to a magnificent $1,000. So if you deposit $1,000 you’ll receive $1,000 in bonus money.
The way to claim this bonus is by using loyalty points, which are known as APPs at WSOP.
For every 10 APPs up to the first $10, you’ll get $1. The next $50 is released every 50 APPs at $5 increments. After that, you’ll receive $10 for every 100 APPs you earn.
You have 60 days to claim the bonus. If you fail to do so, the remaining bonus is forfeited.
During your first week on WSOP, you can claim up to seven tournament entries for $100 freerolls. This will give you the chance to play these tournaments without paying any sort of buy-in.
WSOP Casino Promotions
WSOP also offers a selection of standing promotions. These standing promotions can be taken advantage of by both new and existing players.
$500 Weekly Invitation Freeroll
Join the WSOP Action Club and every week you’ll get an invitation to play in the $500 weekly invitation freeroll tournament.
This tournament takes place every Sunday at 6pm EST.
$20K Sunday Guarantee
If you manage to reach gold status within the Action Club, you’ll get a free ticket to the $20K Sunday Guarantee tournament.
Again, this takes place every Sunday and is exclusive to players who have ascended the ranks of the Action Club.
WSOP Casino VIP Program/Rewards Program
The loyalty program is known as Poker Rewards. You gain higher ranks within the loyalty program through earning Action Player Points, known as APPs. For every $1 paid in tournament fees and rake, you’ll earn 2 APPs.
All APPs are reset at the start of every month.
You need 200 APPs per month to reach the bronze tier. This is equivalent to $100. There’s also an exclusive Champions’ Club, which is for players who earned 20,000 APPs in a single calendar year.
APPs are then converted into WSOP Points. These are APPs multiplied by four. WSOP points can then be converted into cash, which have no restrictions attached. 100 WSOP points are worth $1.
Players who don’t earn any points within six months will lose all their accumulated points.
WSOP Casino Site Features and User Experience
It must be said that the WSOP interface hasn’t changed much since November 2013. Many customers report that the site is a little tired and is a little worn.
However, the amount of action more than compensates for the lack of an ultra-modern site and playing interface.
Platform and Software
WSOP is powered by Dragonfish software. This is dedicated poker software originally designed by 888 Holdings, which you’ve likely heard of.
You will need to download dedicated software to play, though. There’s no browser version of the WSOP Casino.
Take note that the software is rarely updated, so the lobby does look outdated.
WSOP Game Selection
Cash games, Sit and Go tournaments, and multi-table tournaments are all available at WSOP under standard no-limit Texas Hold‘em rules. You won’t have too many problems finding a table, even during off-peak hours.
You will find pot limit games, as well as Omaha and Stud, but it’s incredibly hard to find enough players to fill a table outside of peak hours.
Every day there are special invitational tournaments, with Sunday offering the most lucrative ones. These are huge tournaments with small buy-ins and big prizes, so the competition is stiff.
Due to changes in the law, WSOP now supports playing poker with people in Nevada and Delaware, thus increasing the player pool.
WSOP Casino Mobile App
The WSOP Casino app is available for both Android and iOS. You’re limited to playing Sit and Go’s, no-limit, and pot-limit Hold’em.
You can manage your account from the app, but you won’t receive any information about time-limited promotions.
Although the app serves a purpose when you’re on the go, it’s no replacement for the downloadable desktop version of the app.
From a performance perspective, the WSOP Casino mobile app gets the job done.
WSOP Casino Banking Options
WSOP offers a variety of different ways to make deposits and withdrawals.
PayPal is available. This is by far the most popular way of playing with WSOP. It’s one of the few casinos in New Jersey that allows PayPal. You may only use it as a withdrawal option if you initially used it to make a deposit, though.
Other deposit methods include:
- Bank transfer
- Credit/debit card
- 7-Eleven PayNearMe
- Cash deposit at Caesars's casino in Atlantic City
With withdrawal options, you’re limited to checks, Neteller, and bank transfers. The only way to get around this is to use an alternative withdrawal option, like PayPal, and you can make a request for the money to be sent back to the same deposit option.
Most payments take between three and four days to process. If you want a check, you can expect to wait for around eight days to receive it.
You’ll need to go through the verification process before you can make any form of withdrawal, though.
